What is Under The Mask?
Under The Mask or UTM for short, is an animated series I am developing and releasing on YouTube.
Under the Mask (UTM) Is a fantasy/action/supernatural animated series that I hope to share on my YouTube.
UTM has a tiny team of 1 writer, 1animator, voice actors, and music producers that make up the development team.
What is it about?
Born from Dark, Mysterious Magic, Shi finds herself living among a strange world where no human can see her. Alone and with no memory of where she came from or who she even is, she strives to uncover the secrets of her creation. All while trying to survive in a world swarming with blood thirsty demons that wish to eat her at every turn.
Little could Shi have known that this was just the beginning, and that far bigger things were waiting around the corner, as the King of Demons seeks to use her for evil.
Along the way Shi will make new friends and face new enemies, learning and uncovering the secrets of the Demon World and slowly coming to terms with what she is.
The World of UTM
The world and universe around UTM Consists of 4 dimensions, each a universe of their own in a way. Each of these parallel worlds/universes lay atop one another. With the top of the row being that of the "Otherworld" As referred to in the Series. But also referred to as "The Angelic Realm" Which is home to the purest life forms such as the Angels. Though these angels bare resemblance to religious topics, these are nothing of the sort. Angels are simply pre-demons, they cast down a group of demons a long time ago into a separate world which would come to be known as the "Demon Realm"
And it is this "Demon Realm" That sits just below the "Angelic Realm" With all demons calling this strange, fantasy world their home. Within this world are floating isles, crazy bioluminescent plants and shrooms, pink deserts and giant ice spires. This realm has all sorts of interesting and varying demonic life.
Below the Demon Realm, lays the "Natural Realm" The Realm home to Humans and Animal life. This realm and it's life hold very little amounts of spiritual energy. Which explains why nobody from this realm is capable of seeing the Spiritual Life from the other realms.
Then Finally, at the very bottom dwells the Underworld Realm. This Realm is where souls go when you die, and it's inhabited by dead souls awaiting to move on to a new life, Along with it's only living inhabitants, the Grimms. Who's job in this world is to help souls pass on and find new lives to start.
This realm is far from the Hellish Landscapes of the Underworld that you'd imagine, and rather shows very similar resemblance to the Demon Realm in it's verse and lush environments.
What is a demon?
Demons are dark spirits that dwell in the demon realm. They are invisible to Humans due to Humans possessing low spiritual energy levels, this goes for other life forms with similar levels of spiritual energy like animals. Though there are always the odd cases where a human or animal has just enough to be capable of seeing spirits like Demons.
Humans that have come into contact with demons, or the rare cases where humans are born with more spiritual energy than usual, or cases where humans somehow get more spiritual energy later on in life, will be able to see demons.
Being demonic spirits doesn't make them ghosts. Ghost spirits are something different entirely, being what remains of someone's soul after death, the spirit alone. Demons are just another form of supernatural life with spiritual energy, which is a form of magical energy that's drawn directly from the soul.
Demons take the form of various spirit animals which is decided on the demon's birth, entirely depending on their parent race and place of origin from within the demon realm. There is a wide range of different types of demons of all shapes and sizes. The majority only take the single form of their spirit animal or creature. But many demons of higher levels are capable of possessing a human form.
Typically only higher-ranking demons can do this however, the lower level the demon the more animal-like it becomes.
This beast form otherwise known as the Soul or Spirit form is taking the literal shape and form of the demon's spirit.
What is a Reaper?
Reapers are the result of a highly forbidden magical spell to create life. A spell is kept in the book of forbidden spells which is one of only 2 copies after having them destroyed due to the dangers within the books.
Reapers are supernatural beings that are born from magic itself, they do not have relatives nor do they have any means of reproducing due to having no gender.
They are essentially living weapons created by Satan the King of Demons long ago to forcefully end the war among demons.
They are very much similar to their creator, the Demons. However possess a unique kind of soul and spiritual energy which makes them extremely deadly to demons. They were made mindless weapons, only to follow commands and have no free will.
What is an Angel?
Angels are pure spirits that pre-existed Demons, they live in the Angelic Realm where pure energy exists. A form of very pure spiritual energy, in stark contrast to that of the Demons and the Demon Realm being that of Demonic, Dark Spiritual Energy.
Not much is known about them as they prefer to stay within their realm and do not communicate with the otherworld's.
However it is known that Demons were once angels long ago, with the first demons being angels that were cast out of their home world and tossed into the Demon Realm as punishment for something.
Cursed to live out their lives and the rest of eternity as "Animals" that thirst for blood and violence. Thus creating the never ending war among demons that raged on ever since their first creation.
Spiritual Energy and Magic
The magic and energy system in the story of UTM works entirely from the soul and how strong ones soul is.
With Spiritual energy literally being energy drawn from your soul, your spirit. Since, most life in UTM is
Spiritual, like Demons, Angels and Reapers. They naturally have large amounts of Spiritual energy in order to perform Spiritual attacks/moves and Magic.
Even humans and animals possess spiritual energy, since every living thing has a soul. Though typically Humans do not normally possess enough of it to create anything physical and thus cannot use magic or Spiritual Attacks/Moves.
However, with enough Spiritual energy and practice with it, any living thing is capable of performing Spiritual Energy Attacks, Moves and Magic.
Magic being, a list of created spiritual moves contextualized usually via books and notes. Which, despite many individuals capable of performing their own special spiritual attacks and moves, Magic spells are created so that everyone can perform them if they have the energy for it.
These magical spells can be anything from basic healing spells to unravelling secrets, to discovering secrets, boosting energy, summoning creatures, All the way to reviving the dead to creating a new life form.
